It’s that time of year again for spring cleaning, but what about spring decluttering?
With spring right around the corner, a lot of people will be beginning their spring cleaning. While you may be focused on deep cleaning your kitchen appliances, your bathroom walls, and bedroom carpets, you shouldn’t forget about decluttering. Whether it’s decluttering your teenage son’s bedroom or that hall closet everyone seems to throw stuff in, it’s time to get rid of some stuff.
To get started with decluttering, try sorting items into one of these 3 groups:
- Keep- Items that are used periodically or daily.
- Sell or donate- Items that are not used any longer, but still have a few years left in them.
- Throw away- Items that are not used any longer because they are broken or have seen their days.
To help you have a better understanding of what to throw away, here is a list of items that may be time to say ‘goodbye’ to :
- Appliances that don’t work anymore (Blenders, toasters, vacuums, freezers, etc.)
- Excess rags you don’t use
- Extra bath towels that are just taking up cupboard space
- Expired products (Medicine, cleaning products, beauty products, etc.)
- Plastic grocery bags
- Old (or new) clothes you don’t wear
- Unread books
- Unused cookbooks
- Old magazines
- DVDs, CDs, and VHS tapes
- Unused cables, phone chargers, and wires
- Untouched office supplies
- Old toys (Inside and outside)
- Pots and pans that have been ruined or haven’t been touched in a year
- Unused paper plates, napkins, plastic utensils, etc.
- Old and worn out board games
