Junk Removal Price Comparison

Junk Removal Prices: Stop Comparing Apples to Oranges

You called three junk removal companies and got three wildly different prices. One sounds like a steal. One sounds like a car payment. The third is somewhere in the middle and you’re not sure why.

Here’s the short answer: most of the time, you’re not comparing the same thing. You’re comparing apples to oranges. And as a company with a bright orange truck, we have some opinions about oranges.

Why Junk Removal Quotes Are All Over the Map

Most junk removal is priced by volume. You pay for how much of the truck your stuff fills: a quarter load, half load, full load. Sounds simple. The catch is that nobody’s truck is the same size.

A “full load” from one company might hold a garage’s worth of junk. From another, it might hold most of a garage and leave you paying for a second trip. So when two companies both quote you “$X for a half load,” those numbers can mean very different amounts of hauling.

A few other things that quietly change the price:

  • Truck size. The biggest one. More on that below.
  • What’s included. Labor, loading, disposal fees, and sweep-up after. Some quotes include all of it. Some add it later.
  • Surcharges. Mattresses, tires, appliances, and heavy items like concrete can carry extra fees. Ask up front.
  • Phone quote vs. on-site price. A low number over the phone isn’t worth much if it changes when the crew shows up.

The lowest quote isn’t always the cheapest job, and the highest isn’t always the best. You have to know what you’re actually getting.

The Big Franchise Catch: Premium Prices, Smaller Loads

You’ve seen the big national junk removal franchises. Nice trucks, big ad budgets, catchy jingles. Somebody has to pay for all that, and it’s usually you.

Many of the large franchises charge prices at the very top of the industry. What’s less obvious is that their trucks often hold about 20% less than ours. So their “full load” is a smaller load, at a bigger price.

Do the math on that. If you have enough junk to fill our truck, you could end up needing more than one of their “full loads” to haul the same pile. You’re paying a premium per load and buying more loads. That’s not a better deal. That’s a smaller apple with a fancier sticker.

We’re not saying big companies don’t do good work. We’re saying a price per load only means something when you know how big the load is.

How to Compare Quotes Fairly

Before you book anyone (us included), ask these:

  1. How many cubic yards does your truck hold?
  2. What’s included in the price: labor, loading, disposal, and cleanup?
  3. Are there extra fees for mattresses, tires, appliances, or heavy items?
  4. Is the price I’m quoted on-site the price I pay?
  5. Are you licensed and insured in Arizona?
  6. Do you donate or recycle what you can?

When every company answers the same questions, you’re finally comparing apples to apples. Or oranges to oranges, which we prefer.

Why You Should Always Pick the Orange

Our official position on fruit: always pick the orange. Specifically, the big orange truck with Garbage Guy on the side.

Oranges are famous for vitamin C. Ours comes in a slightly different form. Call it vitamin C for Customer service:

  • Bigger loads. More room in the truck means more junk gone per load, and less money out of your pocket.
  • Firm on-site pricing. Free quotes, and the price we give you on-site is the price you pay. No bait and switch.
  • Fast turnaround. Same-day service when a crew is nearby. Usually 24 to 48 hours otherwise.
  • We do the heavy lifting. You point. We carry, load, haul, and sweep up.
  • Donate and recycle. Usable items go to partners like Salvation Army, Goodwill, Desert Industries, and St. Vincent de Paul instead of the landfill.
  • Trusted locally. Licensed and registered in Arizona, fully insured, locally owned for over 20 years, with 2,300+ 5-star reviews.

An apple a day might keep the doctor away. An orange truck keeps the junk away. We’ll let you decide which is more useful when your garage is full.
